Six places in the Riviera Maya that you should not miss

Six places in the Riviera Maya that you should not miss

Although its 1,000-year-old ruins deserve a visit there are more than six places in the Riviera Maya, the Mayan influence is not the reason for the recent increase in tourism. The New Age atmosphere of Tulum, the restaurants surrounded by jungle and the white sand beaches have made it the warmest place on the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico.

Yoga in Sanara: The yoga studio facing the sea in this ecological complex is characterized by sliding glass doors that open to allow the air to caress your skin during practice. The establishment is open from 8:30 a.m. at 10:15 a.m. or at 5:00 p.m.

Tacos in La Eufemia: In front of the sea, it allows to be relaxed all day; being pampered with a refreshing drink at the oriya of the beach. You can not miss the fish tacos or the freshly squeezed orange juice. Dining at Mezzanine: If you’re looking for an elegant night, most people agree; with the project that started a couple in Brooklyn many years ago. And although the food is of good quality, the wood chops are exquisite. The best fusion of Thai-Mexican food is found in Mezzanine, where the Thai curry pad and the massaman rival the view of the waves.

Drinks in Gypsy: The influence of New York in many places of Tulum does not happen by apperception. This bar of drinks surrounded by living nature deserves a visit. It must be taken into account that this is a mezcaleria, therefore, the choice of liquor is somewhat limited. On Friday nights you see Gypsy becoming a party.

Very Mexican breakfast in Zamas: Many consider it worthwhile to visit Zamas breakfasts. Many boast about huevos rancheros, but we went through a special chilaquiles (fried tortilla strips covered in salsa, cheese and fried eggs) that were worth ruining the benefits of yoga class that morning. It’s worth losing lunch and dinner.

Burritos in Burrito Amor: People get excited about the authentic Mexican sensation. The food is undoubtedly good, though cheap enough that you almost do not care. Opt for the newly opened Burrito Amor (shown below), which, although touristic, is one of the most outstanding meals for both breakfast and lunch.

THE 3 BEST BEACHES OF THE RIVIERA MAYA

It is still Holy Week in the Riviera Maya. Do you feel that there is a beach you have not visit during your stay here? In this article we have the answer!

The Riviera Maya is known for its white sand beaches and turquoise blue waters, in addition to that, unlike other states, Quintana Roo still has untouched areas, to which tourism does not go regularly.

Playa Norte Isla Mujeres (Visit: things to do in Isla Mujeres)

We will start the list with the second most beautiful beach in Mexico and one of the 25 best beaches in the world, located in the seventh position, under Baia Do Sancho, Brazil; Grace Bay, Turks and Caicos Islands; Eagle Beache, Aruba; Playa Paraíso, Cuba; Siesta Beach, Florida; and Playa de la Concha, Spain.

These badges were awarded to Playa Norte by Traveler’s Choice awards, from TripAdvisor, both in 2016 and 2017, due to its crystal clear waters and white sand, which invite tourists to forget all the accumulated stress and immerse themselves in a journey of pleasure and adventure.

Xpu-Há

But if you’re looking for total tranquility, Xpu-Há is your best option, located just 20 minutes from Playa del Carmen. The highlight of this beach is that it is a corner of the Riviera Maya that has not yet been altered by the arrival of the large hotel chains.
At Xpu-Há you can find eco-hotels, or small-scale resorts, as well as beach clubs. Even so, above all, the best is the view, the palm trees, the jungle just a few steps from the sea, the calm and the few people.

Mamita’s Beach

But if what you are really looking for is the eternal party, Mamita’s Beach Club, located in Playa del Carmen, is the beach you must choose. It is one of the most popular beaches of the Riviera Maya, as it has hosted major national and international events, such as Fashion TV Beach, DJ Festival, Jazz Festival and the Peninsula of Fashion.

This beautiful beach is the meeting point for tourists who choose to spend a vacation with a youthful atmosphere, perfect rest, good music and lots of fun. If you’re looking for a good party, now you know where to go.

Cenote Oxman, where life is born

Cenote Oxman, where life is born

About 10 minutes by car from the city center is the Hacienda “San Lorenzo”, in Valladolid, Yucatan, that lodges in its property the magical cenote Oxman, that with its unparalleled beauty incites those who look at it from above to immerse themselves in its waters.

Upon arrival, the first thing that welcomes you is the imposing and colorful hacienda, which you can enter paying only the swim in the cenote, 60 pesos, or the use of the facilities, which include changing rooms, bathrooms, swimming pool with wading pool and restaurant for 150 pesos, of which 50 are reimbursable in consumption.

Following the signs you will find the pool, ideal for those wishing to warm up after swimming in the cold waters of the cenote, that is a few steps back, and that you should enter after rinsing in one of the outdoor showers.

This measure is mandatory, especially if you are wearing sunscreen, mosquito repellent, deodorant, perfumes, creams or any chemical that can severely contaminate the water.

To get to the cenote you must go down at least 70 steps, and although you can get a little tired, the view of the beautiful indigo blue of its waters will return the energy, either to go down to swim down the stairs or throwing yourself with a rope.

Like all cenotes, the water is cold, but after swimming for a while you forget it and enjoy the beautiful experience, which makes you understand why these were scenarios of great importance for the Mayan people since ancient times, considering them portals or windows to the world of dead.

The cenotes can be considered as an oasis in the middle of the jungle, springs of peace and energy, places where magic emanates as a mirage from the deepest reaches of the earth in the form of pristine and crystalline water, qualities that the “Oxman” cenote clearly possesses.

After swimming (you can also snorkel) and if you are hungry, you can go up to the pool area, where you can sit at one of the tables with palapa and order something from the restaurant, which for the price of your food and drinks will leave you very happy, everything is delicious and enough.

Undoubtedly, the Hacienda “San Lorenzo” is the ideal place if you are looking to spend a nice day with your family and / or friends, as well as knowing the beautiful cenote “Oxman” you can enjoy its gardens and pool for a very reasonable price.
